Guru Nanak, also known as Baba Nanak, was the first of the ten Sikh Gurus and lived from 15 April 1469 to 22 September 1539. On the Katak Pooranmashi ("full-moon of Kattak") which occurs between October and November, he is commemorated as Guru Nanak Gurpurab, the world over.
